ferrets bum hole is red and swollen

Question
My ferret Lexi, is about 5 years old (6 on Christmas day...I've had her since she was JUST under 1 year old). Her bum hole is very swollen and red. Her poop is perfectly normal ( meaning not diarrhea ) and she doesn't cry when she poops, she is active as she was when she was little, and she eats just great. I have another ferret named Roxanne who is 2 and appears fine ( very active, eats well, good poops. )  If you could help with Lexi problem that would be cool.

Answer
Lexi probably has the beginning stages of insulinoma or adrenal cancer.  Don't be too alarmed as they can live a long time with it and be ok.  You could put some neosporin on her little bottom to help it feel better or cortizone cream.   Most ferrets get cancer when they get older unfortunately.  Good luck.  If you have more questions feel free to write.
