Hand feeding

Question
Hi
I have a year old ferret who recently had an issue with stopping eating or pooping. I took him to the vet and they couldn't find anything through the testing. I started supportive care at home through syringe feeding and antibiotics and he perked up right away. That was 3 weeks ago and he is doing much better, but won't return to eating his kibble. He will only eat when I mix his kibble with water and baby chicken food into mush and feed him off of a fork. Is it possible that this is now a psychological thing? And how do I get him to start eating on his own again?

Answer
It is possible that he prefers the new food and/or style of eating.  Slowly reduce the baby food added into the mix.  Then slowly add less water.  Now you are hand feeding a dry-ish kibble.  At this point I would stop hand feeding.  Once he is eating on his own, remove the last of the water.
