Losing hair

Question
My sweet ferret has been doing some biting and and scratching. I cannot see anything on her and we do not have fleas in our house. We have worked extra hard on keeping her cage clean and her skin is not red or any red bumps. She has lost some hair on the bottom half of her and bald in some places. She has been eating okay but a little less aggressive when we let her out than in the past. She has been biting her cage too which she had never done before. This whole thing has been going on for about 2-3 weeks and not getting better. Any home remedies or should be take her to the vet?

Answer
Hair loss is the most common symptom of Adrenal Disease, which affects ferrets. You need to take her to the vet to verify that that is indeed what she has, and to discuss your options. Sometimes surgery is the best option, sometimes shots are, in some cases no action is needed, only your vet can tell you which course of action is best for you and your ferret.
