Question
My female APBT is at the end of her 2nd litter.  She started her strong contractions around 4pm est today.  Since then she has not had a lot of interest in food and has been sleeping and then gets up to move.  How long does it normally take before her water should break?

Answer
Hi Christina

If you are waiting for water to break...you'll be waiting a long time.

Each pup is in it's own sack and it's normal for them to be born still inside it.

If she is contracting and not eating that's the first sign that things are moving.  Waiting is always the hardest but a APBT should have no concerns with birthing.   You may want to take her out every hour for a walk around the yard to get things moving.

Good luck!
