Question
hi i have a blue female pit that gave birth to 10 puppies yesterday. the last three were born a couple of hours apart and all three were stillborn. this was her first litter and my first time experiencing birth from a dog . is it normal for that to happen and will she be okay? all the other pups seem healthy and she is feeding them and cleaning them but i worry if she is sick because the last 3 died and were born so much later than the others. thanks so much !!

Answer
hello. congrats on your first litter. and sorry to hear about the last 3. alot of times when a dog gives birth to a large litter she gets tired and unable to birth the puppies when they are ready to come out. that is most likely why they were stillborn, from being stuck for so long before being born. how old is she? cause the mother being too young or too old can effect this as well. i would still go ahead and take them all for a vet visit just to make sure. last year my boxer gave birth to 11 pups and had hours inbetween her last 4 because she was so tired. we packed her up and took her to the vet. just getting up and moving around got the pups coming. hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. good luck with your pups!
