Question
Can you tel me how many ml of specially mixed milk to feed to a 3 day old doberman pincher and with what intervals and do i feed during the night as well

Answer
Hi Jacky

Every 2 hours around the clock by a feeding tube. It's important that the milk gets right into the stomach.  You have to be cautious not to enter into his lungs through the trachea and/or puncture the stomach, so it takes a steady hand.

Goats milk is a good substitute mixed with water. Or you can make up the following:

1 cup whole fat yogurt
2 raw egg yolks
1 tbs of either canola oil or Mayo
1 tsp of white corn syrup
1 droper of infant vitamins.

Mix it all in the blender.  This is good in the fridge for a week.  There is 10 - 12 calories per cc.

Feed the pup an amount that would be slightly UNDER his body weight in cc's every 2 hours the first day then increase it slightly. Make sure you weigh the pup every morning to ensure he is gaining weight. If he weighs 4 oz, you would feed him 4 cc's per feeding every two hours.

Good luck.
