ANSWER: No, a chinchilla is a rodent. Some animals are colored such that they are called 'chinchilla,' but a Chinchilla is a totally separate animal. Here are some pictures of chinchillas:

They look kind of like a cross between a mouse and a rabbit.

It depends on which red squirrel you are referring to. There is a type of red squirrel that is only found in Europe & Asia. The gray squirrel is found here in the United States (though it has also been introduced in Britain). The Eurasian red squirrel has ear tufts, where the gray squirrel does not.
