What a beautiful dog you have!

As with most dog training, teaching your dog to shake hands is really all about consistency and repetition.  With your dog in the sit position, reach down and grasp his paw and shake it gently as if you are shaking hands.  While you are doing this, say "shake hands" or whatever command you wish to use - just be sure to use the same command each time.  Do this 3 or 4 times in a row and praise your dog (perhaps even give a treat) just for being cooperative at first.  Then, repeat this exercise several times throughout the course of the day.  After you have shown him what to do several times, extend your hand toward your dog and say the command (like "shake hands") and eventually he should begin to extend his paw to you without you having to grasp it to shake.  Whenever your dog responds the correct way to your command, be sure to praise him so he knows he is pleasing you.
