Pomeranians in heat

My pomeranian was born July 29-2003 and she has not yet gone into heat. Is this normal? Thanks.

Hi Joanne,  It is considered normal for a female to go into heat the first time anywhere between 7 and 14 months.  It is very common for smaller dogs to have what is known as a silent heat for their first heat, where they would show no signs , which you would not be able to detect so It is very possible this is what has occured.  Best regards, Dawn Hoppe
