Question
Hello Sir"
I am taking a hard look at dog vaccinations.?
They do seem dangeous since a friends dog died from a Booster and the vet admitted they are strong and bad?
What do we do then, not use them or kill our dogs?
Thank you

Answer
There is some danger to all vaccinations.  The trial lawyers have managed to run many companies out of the business of producing human vaccines because the risk can't be reduced to zero.  Thus the great flu vaccine shortage this year.

There are some arguments that we are losing more dogs to excessive vaccination than we would to disease if we cut back a little.  It is not just kooks that are talking about this.  I think the mainstream will be moving to a reduced schedule before long.  I haven't looked at this as carefully as I might, because most of the dogs in my care actually belong to a dog guide school, and I signed a contract agreeing to give the dogs the care they require. My vet goes beyond their guidelines, but I am too much of a wimp to disagree with him.  I even let him give my retired dog guide 2 parvo shots a year, although I am free to choose her care.

I wish I had links to give you to some of the serious discussion on this subject I have seen.  If I remember correctly, there was a vet in Texas suing the AVMA over their vaccine recommendations.
