Peanuts aren't harmful per se, but in spite of being somewhat high in antioxidants, they are very high in fats, which is not good for dogs, particularly if they should be prone to pancreatitis. And if the dog doesn't chew the peanuts well, they will just pass out undigested. Far better, I think, to give him fresh fruits and vegetables in moderation than peanuts.
