is ice cream bad for puppies

I have a 6 mth old yorkie.  Our local ice cream place gives dogs a small amount of vanilla ice cream with a dog bisquit.
Is this bad for the dog.  He of course just loves it.

Hello Sandy and thank you for your question,

Dogs and all other commanly kept house pets are lactoseintolerant meaning any dairy products should be avoided, it can cause tummy upsets/diarrea or vomiting. But if your dog is only getting say a table spoon with his biscut(not every day thou I hope!) it shouldnt hurt him thou I still don't reccomend dairy products for dogs. Chocolate is extremaly toxic to dogs and even in small amounts can cause dijestive upsets or worse, Grapes and rasions are posionus to them as well... a grape say once a week or three or four raisons every week wont kill the dog but in larger amounts can make the dog extremly ill.
