new puppy owner

i have adopted 2 new black lab mix puppies (one male/one female) and wonder if there is a great and easy care book you recommend. also, i am interested in feeding them purina puppy chow plus fruits and veggies (cooked and raw).  what are your thoughts.  they are just 8 weeks old and have just had their first round of thoughts.

It is best not to mess with a dog's diet.  There is absolutely nothing to gain by adding vegetables to a diet of Purina Puppy chow except large, soft stools.  All but the cheapest dog chows are carefully formulated to be the complete and balanced diet dogs need and tested to make sure it is.  I have fed it andnothing else to several puppies, and they all did fine.

Somebody once asked for a list of what a puppy needs.  I decided the list was worth giving most new puppy owners.  It includes my favorite book.
