Question
i just bought a 7 wk old female Pomeranian. i have never had a puppy before and i need your help.when i bought her the breeder did not supply me with any paperwork and advised me that she has not gotten any shots yet.i took her home and she was constantly going "#2" i think she went like 8 times in one night it was diarrhea. she was also drinking a lot of water.so i bathed her after every incident because she was getting it all over her.she also vomitted like three times.the next morning she seemed  better and happier then suddenly she seemed tired, sad and non-responsive. the breeder told me she had been giving her adult pedigree canned food with milk but petsmart told me not to give her that, they said to give her natural choice for puppy dry food but she doesn't seem to be eating much of that except for the first day i got her and i added milk as i was advised by the petsmart lady. Please help me!!!i'm very worried!! ive only had her for one day and a half and im scared! thanks

Answer
Changing her food can definitely account for the vomiting and the diarrhea, but since your puppy has never been vaccinated (responsible breeders start their puppies with the necessary vaccines), I strongly recommend taking your puppy to the vet to rule out the possibility of parvo.  Parvovirus is a deadly virus that is extremely contagious, especially to puppies.  The symptoms are vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy.  If it is parvo, the quicker she is treated the better.  Also, do not give her milk.  She is old enough to be eating regular food now, and the milk we drink is often not tolerated by dogs.  You can add a little water to her food to soften it if she is having difficulty chewing.  There are other things that could be wrong with her, but I really recommend making sure it is not parvo first.
