pomeranian eats ham

Question
Can 2 slices of ham hurt our 12 lb. pomeranian?  She got into the trash can this am and ate 2 slices aboaut 5 inches diameter by 1/2 inch thick.  She drinks and pees, but Hs a swollen belly.  She acts like she wants to poo, but can't.  should I take her to the vet?  We are new in the area and have not established a new dr.

It is good that you are concerned.  Accidents do happen, but I think she will be OK.  Make sure she has plenty of water.  Ham is very salty.  Keep an eye on her, and don't let next weekend catch you with a sick dog.  It is possible she gulped down a piece that is blocking her digestive tract.  However usually that means vomiting and diarrhea.
