Strange Behavior all of a sudden

Question
Hello, my fiance and I have had our dog, Fritz for 3.5 years.  He is a husky mix around 7 years old (we adopted him from the Humane Society).  For almost all of the time we have had Fritz, we've crated him while we are away.  In March, we moved into a house and we tried to let him loose during the day, but he was getting into trouble ie sleeping on the couch, peeing downstairs, chewing things, eating off counters.  We didn't leave him out long, maybe a few weeks.  He happily goes into his kennel.  Thursday, he chewed up his bed that he's had for roughly two years.  We bought him a new one and used it today.  We got home from work and he chewed it completely.  It seems like he has a sudden change in behavior.  My fiance runs him 4-5 times a week and nothing has changed in his schedule.  What could possibly be causing this sudden change?  He's not been one to chew much or cause trouble like this, always seemed to be a mellow dog.

Answer
Hi Kelly,

To me, it sounds like there was too much change too soon. A new home and sudden freedom. Maybe take a couple steps back: crate him and when you do  try leaving him, give him something very high value to choose to chew on instead of her bed like a raw frozen marrow bone.

There's a great book called "Dogs Home Alone" by Roger Abrantes that outlines very thoroughly, exercises that you can do to help him be more comfortable when you are not home.
