Question
My 7 yr. old was diagnosed with torn ligaments behind the
patella (knee cap) and is on restricted movement, anti-
inflamatory, glucosamine, pain killer, for 2 weeks and then may
need surgery.
Any suggestions to speed healing? It's hard to keep her down
and realize that recovery is 6-14 weeks for surgery! She is also
very hard for me to lift in and out of car and up and down stairs;
55 lbs.
Will they give her tranquilizers to keep her quiet after surgery, if
it comes to that? I dread having to carry her for that long.

Answer
Hi Mary,
I honestly do not know much about this type of surgery, but if tranquilizers are needed to keep her calm, I am sure they will prescribe them.  You will probably need a large crate to keep her in when you are not home or just to keep her calm.
If I were you, I would go online and look for some sites that deal with this type of surgery for this breed.  Sorry that I cannot be of more help.

God Bless,
Becky
