Question
What do you recommend for torn knee ligaments to help healing
besides glucosamine?

Answer
Hi Mary,

Thank you for writing to me regarding your dog's knee injury.

I do have some recommendations besides Glucosamine..however, in my opinion, one of the most effective forms of Glucosamine is Syn-flex.

I have seen it work miracles for inflamation.

I also highly recommend the use of healing magnets.  You can do a search under Homedics.  They sell a kit with velcro magnet wraps that you can wrap around his sore ligament.  They use magnets for race horse injuries and I have used it with my dog, with great success. You can also get a magnetic mattress pad for your dog to sleep on.

Acupuncture is extremely effective.  There is an organization for vets that practices this ancient medical art.

Gentle swimming will keep the blood flowing and prevent the ligament from losing tone and strength.

Soaking in a warm bath with epson salts is another approach to support healing.

Finally, I recommend Chinese Herbs prepared by an acupuncturist called, Resolve Internal Fire.  It is essentially meant for arthritis but would be helpful for inflamation throughout the body.  The contact number is 800-709-9565.  Ask for Carol Chandler and tell her that Shelley Davis from Bed & Biscuit recommended that you contact her about this product.
