Sweet Smelling Urine in Young Female Pug

I gave my pugs their monthly dose of Sentinel last night with dinner.  I noticed later in the evening that there was a wet spot by the back door.  Again this morning I noticed a wet spot by my bed this morning when I woke up.  It did not smell like dog urine, but instead had a sweet smell and the odor was not that strong.  I thought that she might havea UTI as she doesn't have frequent accidents, but the fact that the urine odor is sweet and mild threw me off.

Hi Rachel-

Urine that smells sugary can indicate a number of problems such as diabetes mellitus and acetonemia. I highly sugest you take her to the vet asap to have a urinalysis done. I wouldn't suspect a UTI with mild, sweet urine- UTIs usually cause strong, thick urine.
