Choosing a dog breed

Question
QUESTION: I have decided to get a family dog and want to make sure i get the right one for us.  I would like a small-medium sized, low energy dog with a smooth-short coat.  I don't want to spend more than an hour a day walking it and i don't want it too moult too much.  It needs to be calm and good with all people, including children and the elderly, and other animals.  A labrador is ok but probably too energetic for me, and possibly a little to large.

ANSWER: Hi Louise;
Since you live in England...I would go for a "Clumber Spaniel"...they are awesome!
Great for kids, medium size, and really calm!
Let me know what you think??
Best regards,
Melissa

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick reply.  I've had a look at the breed profile, and there seems to be only one problem - heavy shedding!  I had looked into a cocker spaniel/cavalier king charles before, and they seem like nice dogs, if not for their long coats, which i fear may be too high maintenance.  Thanks again, look forward to hearing back from you.

Answer
Hi Louise;
Cockers and Cavaliers will be much more work than a Clumber Spaniel.
I actually think they are "Low Maintenance" due to their curly coat.
If you don't like that breed, I would go to a Welsh Corgi, Pembroke. As they are very smart, and excellent with Kids!

Melissa
