Trying to get my puppy to walk

Question
I have a 2 1/2 month old yellow lab mix. He's perfect! He plays well, already pretty much house-trained, sleeps all night, coulnd't ask for more. But he refuses to go for a walk. At first i thought he just hated the leash, so i had him wear it around the house/yard for a week or so and it doesn't bother him. I tried letting him lead and see if he'll go, used treats, encouragement. Im not sure why he wont go. He will just sit down and make me pull him, but that doesn't work. The only thing that has worked is if my boyfriend holds the leash and i go forward a few feet and call him to me, but it only works if i go down to his eye level. It's very wierd, this only lasts a block. We dont have a lot of traffic, he just seems scared to leave the house. I know he is VERY young but i've read that it's okay to start walking him at this age. Im not sure how to get him to realize that it is a fun thing. He's great with all kinds of people and other dogs, i probably take him daily somewhere or have someone come to the house, so he's not shy. Can you give me any tips?

Answer
One thing you can do is pick up a cheap leash and cut it down to about 2-3 feet.  Put it on him and let him drag it around the house to get used to the leash.  Only do it when you can watch.

As he gets used to it, then try a walk outside.    If getting out in front and coaxing doesn't get a puppy moving, try dropping behind it and running by in baby steps calling ''Go, go, go!'' In a happy, excited voice.
