1. How do I completely get rid of fleas, ticks, mites, insects, etc. without all the expensive money spend on my pet?

Hi Henry,

Thank you for writing to me about various insects and how to manage them.

The best thing to start out with is a healthy dog.  You can give your dog Missing Link which contains yeast..this repels fleas from the inside out.  Vacuuming your home daily will kill the fleas and when the eggs hatch, they too will be sucked into the vacuum and chopped up.

You can mix up some 20 Mule Team Borax in hot water and wash your floors and rugs with it.  Add some of the liquid to a spray bottle and spray the furniture.  

Wash your dog's bedding.  

There are also herbal flea repellents in the health food store and on line.


You can also sprinkle some diamataceous earth around the outside of your property to kill invaders.  Be aware that many good bugs will die along with the unwanted ones.
