Standard Poodle question

Thanks to your advice, we've decided on a standard poodle ;-)
I have an appt to meet a breeder who has a 7 week old ready this Saturday.
Question: It is a male.  Full registration papers cost $400 more than limited registration papers.  What is the advantage of getting a male dog with full registration?  If people thought he was the cat's meow, and we wanted him to sire a litter or two, what's the best we could hope to get back from that?  Pick of the litter?  A standard siring fee?

Hello.  Happy to hear from you again.  My Saint bernard who is 10 months is fully registered.  Basically all that does is gives you the opportunity to show them in bigger shows.  If they have good bloodlines and you are thinking of showing its not a bad idea.  However;  If your not planning of showing him then you can only get a certain amount for stud fee.  If they have a Champion show background and people are wanting that in there puppies and be willing to pay more.  Research your area..Is there any big names around you that you know of that show.  Does your breeder know of some people who are gong to be looking for a stud in the future? Stuff like that!  As far as our dog goes...we are not showing him.  We are planning are using him for breeding and we will have to clarify that we are breeding for PET QUALITY puppies.  And yes MOST breeders give you the choice of having...for instance...a saint bernard fee for pet quality is roundabouts...300-400 fee. Or you can get the pick of the litter.  Now i havnt researched standard poodle stud fees but they are a pretty big deal dog if you know what i mean.  Its the dog everyone waits for to appear at wesminster and other major shows.  So they would be a little higher im sure.  But anyways...let me know if you have anyother questions.  And be sure to send me a picture if you get him:)  Thanks for you question and good luck.  Just let me know if i can do anything else for you.
