Question
I have two blond long haired dachshunds.  The one I have had for three years and the other one just a year.  I can't keep there noses black.  They were each three when I got them and they had black noses.  I'm using disposable water dishes because some one told me it was from bacteria in there water bowls.  I started giving them kelp about a year ago and there noses started turning black and now there noses are turning pinkish again.  They look so much better with black noses.  I've asked quite a few veterinarians and they don't have any answers.

Answer
It is very possible that their noses are naturally pink.  If they are blond, then that is even more likely.  The only concern I have is that they may have some form of skin cancer.  If they were adults when you got them then I would definitely ask the vet about that.  If they were puppies when you got them, then I'm definitely much more inclined to think it is just their natural pigment. Scar tissue can also be pink, but they would both have to be rubbing their noses raw on something. I have never seen this particular phenomena with Dachshunds, but I have with Maltese, who are supposed to have black noses as well.
