wee wee pad training a adult maltese about 1 year and a half yrs

Hi, my name is Jason I have a question about my female maltese dog. She's about a year and a half right now and I want to wee wee pad train her. I think throughout her years or so, she was never been wee wee pad trained and I just got her from a friend because she didnt want the dog so I need tips on how I can wee wee pad train her. She pees on the bathroom rug all the time when she needs to go, otherwise she'll hold it in until when she needs to go and I feel horrible about that.

The best way to do this is to get a little dog pen and put that pads down in a corner,and do that for about two weeks. You can let her out for playtime,feeding walks ect but keep her in the pen at most times. You can also put in a couple of toys and a small water dish and praise her whenever she goes on the pads. After the two weeks you can let her out of the pen more often,and keep clean pads down at all times. For pad training crates are generally not used,and pens are used instead
