Question
I have a 3 yr old yellow lab and he is constantly getting small bumps under his chin that eventually grow and then burst leaving blood on the carpet. Our vet said to wash his bowls regularly and we have been (daily) and yet they persist. What are these and how can we treat/prevent them?

Answer
Canine acne at its finest. Get hybtain soap from the vets office normaly avalible from the outside part my vet doesnt keep it behind the counter. Scrub his chin morning and night thats twice daily and pop teh blisters when they are big..do this while washing...I say scrub I mean slight pressuer and rub the chin its to remove oils and will pop the pimples and otherwise clean out the scars. I'm shocked your vet hasnt reccomended anti botics...my labrador gets put on anti botics and the twice daily chij scrubbings when she gets canine acne. Try getting rid of nyla bones or other frayed plastic toys these tend to irrate the dogs chin and my vet says plastic can cause canine acne...so ditch platic water and food bowls and replace with glass or metal dishes, all plastic adn rubber toys should be removed and replaced with alternive toys...try another vet if yours doesnt know this is canine acne what else may he not know...try another vet and se if yuo can get the anti botics and hybatain soap for his chin. Best of luck.
