Question
I have a pug that I just breed with my male pug, what will I need to do when she starts to deliver the puppies. What supplies will be needed and what signs to look for when there is complications? Please help

Answer
Denise-

1 our of 3 pugs need a c-section to deliver their pups as the heads are too big. Pugs are extremly difficult to breed correctly. (And very expensive when done correctly) Here are some websites for complications:

You need a whelping kit, including whelping box:

C-section information (Really read this, you may need it)

There is a ton of information out there. The biggest complication that you are going to run into is blockage due to the heads. You will notice this if the mother is straining to deliver and no puppy appears within 2 hours. IF THE MOTHER PUSHES FOR MORE THEN 2 HOURS WITHOUT PRODUCING ANYTHING the mother needs surgery IMMEDIATLY.

This is a whelping calender- very helpful. Keep this around at all times so you know what to expect.

Research, research and more research. Hopefully you wont need to do a c-section, but I recomend saving a few thousand dollars just in case. Dogs tend to whelp in the middle of the night when only the ER vet is open.
