Bichon digestive problems

Question
Hello. I have been feeding my 9 month old Bichon Blue Buffalo Chicken and Rice puppy food for several months. She has had diarrhea/loose stools on and off on this food. I have tried to change her food but cannot find one that will not upset her stomach. She did well on Canidae Lamb and Rice but did not want to eat it. I have tried California Natural lamb and rice, but it mad her vomit, even though I only gave her two kibbles. I have also tried to slowly mix a small amount of NB Ultra, but she had diarrhea and vomited once. I had her stool tested for parasites which came back negative. Can you recommend a food that would be okay for her?

Answer
Hi Joyce,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these problems with your Bichon. My sense of this is that you will ultimately need to go to either a home made diet or a prescirption food, but meantime there are some Sensitive foods you may not have tried. Worth giving it a shot I would say.

Here area few for your consideration:

I would say to look for a novel protein if possible, a limited ingredient diet, and no gluten (avoid barley and wheat). It can be hard to locate all of these in one food, but  without a home made diet plan that tests tolerance of individual foods and nutrient levels it's pretty much guesswork. I would  have a follow up with yout vet as well, but try the Wellness and/or Natural balance and see if any of these work.

Let me know how it goes,
Catherine
