QUESTION: Is it true that chocolate poodles are hyper active and harder to train?  I've heard that from many sources.  Thank you.

ANSWER: Hello Jeanette,
I wouldn't say that they are hyper or hard to train, but they tend to be goofy and so you need to be smart about the training.  You need to make them think that figured it out on their own rather than you "teaching" them.  
The brown poodle tends to be a clown and will enjoy tricking you.  You have to be one step ahead with them.  Just figure it as an Obedience Challenge.  

If you start young with them, you should be ok.

You could say that its a brown thing because this was the temperment of the first few browns that they used when they started the breeding program for browns.  As there got to be more and more of them, they tended to keep that goofy, clownish temperment.  

I would say that a very vesitile color would be the Black or White, because there is a very good gene pool for them.  They can be very good Obedience dogs, Show dogs, and are good with people.  Silver are also very intelligent and make good Obedience dogs but they can be aloof with people.
