Maltese is very dependent

I just got a 5 month old maltese about a week ago.  At first he was fine, he was shy, but still got along with almost everyone he met.  Just yesterday, I started to notice that he follows me everywhere, never more than three feet away from me.  To make matters worse, he started to growl when my friend and boyfriend (whom he has already met and gotten along fine with) approached me.  Last night, I went upstairs and left him with my boyfriend for only 10 minutes, and when I came back, my boyfriend said that he bit him!  What can I do about this behavior.  I want to be close with my dog, but I don't want him to alienate me from my other relationships.

He is dependent on you he needs to be socialised more-
do you work will a family member dog sit a few days a week honest this will help he will get used to others take him places with you so he can see you can be around others too. Its hard when your just at home as all he mainly sees is you.
But you need to curb the agressive behaviour before it escalates to biting others. especially not kids.
