arthritis in leg of Maltese

Question
My 4 lb five year old Maltese started chewing her right foot about 1 year ago.  The chewing has become worst and almost constant so we visited the vet.  He diagnosed arthritis and said to give her a sliver of aspirin.  I walk her one mile everyday (which she loves)and he told me to continue....it is good for her to keep the joint mobile.  Is this correct?  Can I give her Glucosamine/Chondroitin and how much?  I am afraid of the aspirin because she is so small.  Is there anything I can do to prevent further problems?  She is the love of my life!

Answer
hi i know how you feel it must be awful.
You have worried me now though as my dog has been chewing his back paw for  a while but i just thought it was a habit. looks like a vet trip.
Well i would suggest high quality dog cod liver oil and perhaps a homeopathic remedy they have lots of natural aids that are proved to help.
try searching online. i hope everything goes ok
Kind wishes
