Question
I have a 5 month old female yellow lab who is not spayed. We have had her for about 2 weeks.Shes seems to be very scared of my boyfriend. She usually urinates when he comes home from work or hasnt been around him for a few hours. I tell her "no" and pick her up and take her outside where she needs to go, although I think it is purely nerves. Then it takes forever for me to get her to come back inside because she is so scared. I need to know what to do to calm her nerves and make her quit urinating inside the house. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hello and congrats on your baby girl. It sounds liek she was abused or yelled at/scared alot by a male in a previus home my advice is get your boyfriend to use a happy go lucky excited voice when he sees her bend down and call her over click his tounge or clap his hands lightly...tap the floor get her to come to him piddle and all and rub her ears jsut pet her scratch her head or pet her belly should she go submissive and flip over...she needs to know he is Not going to hurt her...it would also be a great idea to haev him feed her/walk her/play fetch with her and give her treats/spend time helping train her as well...this doenst mena he should do everything and you ignore her he just needs to be more included in her life for a few weeks to show he is a good guy and isnt going to hurt her by any means. *Piddling when excited/scared isnt really bad alot of puppies piddle this isnt her wanting to pee in the house its her not being able to hold it becsue shes so excited or scared...something like a small child...there is really no need to punish her by shovin g her outside when she does this and this wont help with getting her to like yuor boyfriend when he walks in the door if you put her outside...also dont yell at her for being  "bad"   she will be afraid of you both...and you could end up with a dog that bites out of fear in the future so work with this now. Good luck
