Testicular cancer in Labradors

Question
We have a black Labrador Retriever, he is nearly 3 years old. Our Lab is not neuted, are Labs are at higher risk of testicular cancer than other breeds.

Answer
I don't think one breed is at a higher risk at getting cancer than another.  It can run in lines so if you know the breeder of your dog and any of the parents have cancer in their lines, it could be a problem.

Unless you plan on showing/breeding there is no reason to keep the dog intact at this point.  It's great to wait until they are fully mature but once they are, you might as well fix them.  That way there is no chance of accidental breeding/roaming.  Plus here in the USA, it's hard to find a boarding kennel to take intact dogs, so that's always a reason too.
