Question
I just adopted a two year old female spayed lab mix and I'm feeding it sciencediet adult small bites..is that acceptable and if so how many times a day and how much should i be feeding her?

Answer
I have never seen any controlled studies of how dogs fare on different diets.  I can hardly imagine as many vets as sell Science, that it is the toxic waste many suggest.  They say the same thing about other common brands one of which I have seen thousands of dogs that were thriving on it.  My work with service dog programs gives me much more reliable information on dog care than most have.  You don't spend the price of a nice car training a dog and then feed it junk.  The Science sounds like a good choice to me.

I would feed her 3-4 cups once a day.  Let her ribs guide you to how much, not her appetite.  Most labs will eat more than is good for them and look for more.  Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest.
You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them.  Each dog is
different.  Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog
must have its food adjusted to its individual needs. Here is a link to a good illustrated guide,

She shouldn't need any additives or supplements to her diet.
