Question
WE ARE GETTING A LABRADORE AND DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT IN THE DAY TIME BUT WE DONT WANT A DOG SITTER OR A DOG WALKER?

Answer
Most of us must work all day, and what to do with the dog is a problem.  It doesn't work well at all to leave a puppy all day, and I hate to see even an adult left more than 4-5 hours.  I have always been able to come home for lunch or take the dog with me, but many can't.  There are all kinds of problems leaving a dog by itself In a fenced yard.  They can annoy the neighbors by barking. They can dig up the lawn.   All sorts of things can happen to them, being stolen, abused, getting loose, being attack by other animals, etc.  A small enclosed kennel reduces some of the fenced yard problems, but you must be very careful to make sure the dog has protection from the weather, water, and shade.

Shutting it in the house has other problems.  A crate protects both the house and dog from its chewing, but all day is too long without being able to relieve itself.  The dog walker you reject is as good as anything if you can't make it back.  Another alternative is doggy day care.  A dog door seems to me to combine all the problems of a fenced yard with the chance to shred things in the house.

I have laid out the options.  You will need to decide what you can make work.
