Question
how long has the chock.. lab been around for like when did it come to be found in England and what was its purpose? someone told me fisherman used them for bringing in the nets

Answer
The chocolate Lab is a range of collars the Labs come in.  Originally they were all black like the Neufoundlands they were developed from along with the Golden and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.  I think all of them were primarily used as gun dogs, although their intelligence and work ethic found uses with fishing nets and rescue work.  The yellow originated in England, and perhaps the chocolate too.  Labs have a wide range of color, ranging from a light cream to the black with almost everything in-between.  I am not sure where you draw the line between a dark yellow, and a light chocolate.  You need to look carefully at some chocolates to see they aren't black.

You may be able to find more details at www.akc.org or one of the many books on Labs.
