new lab- what to feed?

Question
My husband and I just adopted a 6 month old lab from our local SPCA. I have always had small dogs and don't know a lot about labs except that they are good with kids. What is a good food to start her on and how much food should she get a day? My brother has an older lab and when they feed her in the morning they put a little vegetable oil over her food to keep a shiny coat. What are your thoughts about that? ANY info for a great beginning in bringing Chloe into our home would be great!

Answer
Hello congrats on the new puppy Chloe is a beautiful name...its very sad to think of purebred Labs that are so wonderful with children and peopel to be placed in a pound labrador reterivers are great dogs and you will have many wonderful years with chloe. I reccomend Auithoirty from petsmart a large breed puppy fomula...if you cant find a petsmart store around you this is no good as this food is made only for petsmart stores its high quaility and fair priced. I also can reccomend purina one for large breed puppies, nutro any of the three types large breed puppy, there are many types of food but dont get anything cheaper then purina or purian one as anything less isnt high quaility and wont provide all teh nessairy nutrants for the puppy, also cheaper foods arent avalible in large breeder puppy I cant stress this enough large breed puppy food not normal puppy food as large breed puppy food will provide slow growth to aid in pervention of hip and joint problems later in life.
