Excessively Hyper

Question
I have a black lab/rottweiler mix (predominately lab) named Mercedes who will be 4 years old in June. I have raised her from before her eyes were open. She was a runt and her mother refused to feed her so I took her and bottle fed her. She is my baby. :) However, looking at her you wouldn't be able to tell she was ever a runt. She is now 120 lbs and more hyper than ever. She has been through obidience training since she was very young, and is VERY well behaved when at home with my girlfriend and I and our two other dogs. When people come over or we go for a walk, she gets wayyyy too excited and jumps all over them. This is a big problem. She is the sweetest dog and all in all just a big baby, but doesn't realize just how large she is. Once she is at her high excitement level she stops listening to us. I have asked for advice from others but was simply told that it is just a part of her personality and cannot be corrected, and I refuse to believe that. Since she loves her toys so much she sleeps with them, but we have taught her to stay when we throw a ball and not get until until we count to three. If we can teach her that I'm sure we can calm her down alittle right? She gets plenty of exercise, we go on walks twice a day and play even more, she has never been chained, she lives in the house. Also when we walk her she takes off like a raging bull for the first 10 minutes then later calms down, (unless someone passes us then she pulls again) Please ANY advice as to correcting this problem would be much appriciated :-(
Another thing, we were worried about having kids around her since she is so big and hyper, but I used to babysit my neighbors 4 month old baby on a daily basis, and she would tip toe around her. So she understand that she shouldn't jump around when she is around the baby, how do I make her understand not to jump around others?
thank you :)

Answer
Hello, I am sorry but your questions is rightly awnsered by the others its part of her personality. Both of the breeds she mixed with are fairly high energy dogs needing alot of daily exercise to keep them livewithable. You can up the exercise daily if you think she needs more then given now. Make sure they have lots of toys and chews in the house and exercsied fairly daily, with toher dogs she sohlud be calmer since she has them to play with and poop her out. Childrenw ith her shouldnt be an issue if she is careful around the neighbers baby she will be better with yuors yet. My other sisters dog is a golden/lab cross 3 years old female spayed, she is a right ball of energy when she gets going and will walk around following my two year old neice but my sister just had twins the goldenX is very careful around them and wont even come near the couch when they are there, she is very careful around them and will only smell them lightly and walk away. My labrador retereiver loves children she loves my two neices aged 1 and 2 she will lcik them too much thou and knock tehm over but pull her away and shes fine, when they were smaller and visited she would go up and smell them when they were really tiny but that was it. sorry I couldnt be of better help.
