Hurt Paw

When we got home last night, our Lab/Great Pyrenees was limping, when we looked at his paw, he had a pretty large cut on his paw pad. There was no bleeding just swallon and sore. He is putting little to no pressure on it. We went Tractor supply where they have an assortment of medications- whe bought a spray that was for cuts, fast drying and protects against bacteria and fungus. What else do we need to do? We have him in the house now so he is not tempted to us it while gaurding his yard. He is a outside/inside dog. Large fenced yard, we have no idea how he cut it. It is raining outside so we have not had a chance to check the yard over. Please give us your input. Much appreciated...

my jack russell terrier gets scraped pads very offen...i put antibotic ointment on it frog a normal drug store...normal people ointment put it on the cut or scrap 2 times daily after 7/10 days the dogs foot is much much better and within 3 weeks the missing chunk from the pad is normaly filled back in.
