Question
My lab just had pups 4 weeks ago. I am now thinking about getting her fixed but I know right now is not the best time. Is it possible for her to get pregnant again this soon after having pups?

Answer
Hello Shanon Carter and thank you for your question,

No spaying her right now isnt a good idea she would be feeding the puppies for another 2/4 weeks and the surgery would very likely stop her milk production not to mention she would be in considerable pain to be laying with or palying with her puppies. I would have her spayed when the puppies are 7/8 weeks old and fully weaned. A female dog comes into her on avrage every six to eight months, two months of pregnancy, 1 mounth with puppies is a toatl of three months once the pups are weaned it will make four months and she could get prengnant about two months after the pups are weaned at 8 weeks so *no she can't get pregnant again immeditly.

I hope this helps if you have any further questions such as care of a recinitley spayed dog ect. or weaning puppies feel free to ask.
