eating habits of labra retriever

we are planning to keep a dog. we have listened that he needs non veg .Is that true ?we are vegetarians and meat is not allowed in our house.so now what to do?

While it is possible to give a dog the diet it needs without feeding meat, it is very difficult. The easiest way to meet a dog's complex nutritional needs to feed a commercial dog food.  There are ones available made without meat, but I am not sure which ones are available in India.  The regular Purina dog food has very little meat in it, and I think it is available in India.  I know Pedigree is, and it again is a low meat product.  The dog food comes as dry, brown pieces that neither look or smell like meat.  

I respect your concern about meat.  No animals are killed to produce the less expensive dog food.  Mostly they contain grain with just enough of what meat products are left over from human consumption added to make the food nutritionally complete for the dog.
