Question
Have a 3 year old yellow lab, one of the most intelligent dog I have every owned,he is my running buddy but when I take him to the walking park and have to have him on a leash, there is no way I can hold him, he is so strong and pulls like a horse, stop's to smell everything. Its just become a problem, when I run with him I go to a place where I can let him run without a leash.

Any advise you can give me on getting him under control when he has to be lead ?????

Thanks for your help

Answer
Have you tried a head collar? The leading brands are Promise, Haltie, and Gentle Leader. They have a strap going around the dogs nose looking something like a muzzle. They work by pulling the dogs head around. No other way gives you such great control with so little force.  As soon as the dog starts to pull, it pulls its head around.  I have had very good success with them.  You just let its pulling correct it.
