QuestionI have an eight month old black lab from working lines. He is obedient and will make a very good retreiver. I have taken him to well scented ground (rabbits, pheaants etc) but he appears reluctant to hunt. He tends to walk at my heel despite all the encouragement I offer and the lure of game scent.
I have sucessfully trained ESS's in the past but this is my first lab and I am concerned at his apparent disinterest in "the hunt". He is shy of cover but will not refuse a retrive in this environment.
Your expert advise on how I can encourage "brad" to hunt would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
AnswerPerhaps hunters are too busy having a life to spend much time on the web. I haven't hunted in years and have no idea how to help you. I seldom see much on the net from those that do hunt. Maybe this link will help, http://www.lab-retriever.net/board/forumdisplay.php?f=29
