8 week old lab puppy

Question
This is for the same Lab that takes his waterbowl to bed with him, we will try the advice given and now he has too water bowls (one for his bed, and one for his water).  Another question - he is not eating as much as the breeder saod he would.  She said he would have four meals a day an each meal would be 4 ounces of dry food which is then soaked in water.  However he is eating only about 1/2 of that.  I think it is too much (it looks a lot) especially as he is not playing now with his brothers an sisters. Can you advise me on how much food a puppy should be eating at 8 weeks?

Answer
Hi Paul,

Do not worry about his eating. Generally it takes a few weeks for the lab to get 'settled' into the new home and start eating with his full appetite. Many times its the heat as well.

However, i'd recommend you reduce the food quantity for now and get him into the habit of finishing his food. For eg - give him only 1/4 of what you feed him right now. Let him finish that off. Train him to lick his bowl clean. (it's like teaching a child to finish his plate). Then give him more if you think he's still hungry (although let me assure you - labs are ALWAYS hungry)

Over time start to increase his food quantity. He'll get back to his eating.

Good luck - lemme know how it goes.
