New odor from our lab

Question
Thank you for taking a question: Our Black Lab, 7 years old and the life of our family. In the house, on our boat, in the car and loves to run on our 3 acres. In short three months ago she took on a real dog odor which was new for her. We changed foods, type of foods, took her to a vet, changed her shampoo and conditioner. Still this new odor persists. He used to bath her once a week, then went to two. It isn;t a oily issue like another question asked, it is just a smell and it isn;t normal for her. Any other ideas? Brian

Answer
I hate to think a vet missed an ear infection.  Take a good sniff of her ears.  If they have a strong smell, get her back to the vet.  Maybe do so anyhow.  A healthy Lab should be able to go indefinitely without a bath unless she has found delightful stuff to roll in.  Does a bath help until the next time she goes out?  If you and the vet don't find some cause before long, perhaps you need another vet.

The Humane Society of the United States, based upon the sickening information contained in the indictment, is requesting all people to send a message to NFL commissioner Roger Goodall requesting he suspend Michael Vick immediately.  They are citing other sports figures who were suspended when indicted for crimes.  Their point is that it is apparent , based on testimony of others involved, that Vick not only knew about it, but ordered the inhumane executions of the dogs and nothing in the past with other suspensions, has compared to this level of abuse.  Here is the info in case anyone in interested: [url=http://www.hsus.org/hsus_field/animal_fighting_the_final_round/recent_activities/vick_indicted.html]Atlanta
