Question
We are getting a registered yellow Lab and our friend has a reg.  chocolate Lab  if these two breed are they still able to be reg. as Labs or does this change them to be mixed breeds.  We would like to be able to have a sellable breed.

Answer
Before you consider breeding you will need to do all the clearances on both dogs and prove that they are breedable animals by putting them in shows or performance competitions.

There are plenty of badly bred labs with health problems right now that are euthanized daily in shelters.

Not to mention that chocolate and yellow labs should NOT be bred together as you could produce the undesirable and non-standard yellow lab with chocolate pigment.  Unless you do genetic testing on both dogs to see what colors they carry, they cannot be bred together.
