QuestionWe are planning to get a dog that will primarily be an outside dog. We have lots of shade and will have plenty of water available. There are some lab puppies available - is there any reason to avoid a lab if we plan on it being an outside dog - are they able to take the Texas heat? During extreme heat or extreme weather we would obviously bring it inside, but do not want a dog that is always inside due to allergies. Thanks for any advice.
AnswerI am against keeping dogs outside. No breed will be happy outside all day by itself. There are ways of still having a house although you have a Lab in it. While Labs maybe less likely to be a barking problem if left outside alone all day, some are. It is best to leave the dog inside and find a way for it to get a mid day break.
