Question
QUESTION: I have a 1 and 1/2 yellow lab.  She has black spots under her chin and by her jaw line.  The last time I took her to the vet he said it was acne.  What is the best way to treat it.  It does not bother her at all.

Thanks
Michelle

ANSWER: The vet should have given you a way to treat it.  Are they just bumpy or do they break open with pus inside?  My boy had an infection like that under his chin.  I ended up putting neosporin on it daily until it finally healed up.

QUESTION: They are bumps.  They look black under her fur.  They do not break open and there is no puss!  I think the vet just gave me some kind of cleanser.  I just didn't know if there was something else I could use.

Answer
Not sure what it actually is then, because everything I have read about dog acne has the bumps being more like real pimples:

I would try the neo anyway.  Otherwise, this is nothing I have ever experienced with my labs.  You might want to see if there is an AllExperts Dog Vet section as this really isn't something strictly LABRADOR RETRIEVER or BREED related.
