lab age average

Question
what is the average life span of a female black lab, 75-80 pounds , she is
now 11 years old.  ?   How about  our Icelandic Sheepdog, she is also 11 and
40-45 pounds.?

I don't remember seeing figures on that.  Partly it depends on how good of care the dog gets, and how soon the the owner decides it is time.  Last November we put our 15 year old to sleep.  The year before, she was still doing fairly well.  If yours is in fairly good condition now, you should be able to expect a few more good years.  the other dog is smaller, and you can hope it lives even longer.  Get them into the vets at least every year, and act quickly when you see a problem.  Ours gave us a real scare at 12, but it was only pneumonia, and antibiotics gave us another 3 years.

Our vet did say he sees very few 16 year old Labs.
