Question
hi, i hv a chocolate labrador 5mths old.he seems to be hungry all the time..please help me in setting his type n qty of food timetable. At the moment i feed him thrice, early morning at 6 am (pedigree),then at noon boiled egg, milk n wheat bread, then again at 5 pm (fruits, banana, strawberries n plum) n finally at 9 pm pedigree.is it okay to feed him the above?

Answer
What I would do is give him 2 meals a day of the Pedigree, 1 1/2-2 cups (400-500 ml)each one and nothing else.  It is very hard to determine if the rest is the careful complete and balanced diet a growing puppy needs.  The milk could be giving him too much calcium, very bad for a growing puppy.  In another month or 2, you could cut back to 1 meal a day.  You should be feeding an all life stages food now. Switching to an adult chow for the larger breeds at 4 months, slows growth and helps develop sturdier joints.

Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs.
